Our doctors use the state-of-the-art digital FotoFinder skin cancer detection system, which is the latest and gold standard in digital dermoscopy, and where your skin spots can be checked with up to 30 to 50 times magnification. It can also record and store pictures of your skin moles so that they can be compared for any subtle changes over time.

He has worked in different surgical specialities in Tasmania, mastering useful surgical skills before moving into general practice, and completing his GP training with James Cook University, Queensland.
He migrated to Tasmania in 2010, and his family now calls Hobart their home.
He has developed a special interest in skin cancer medicine and Vasectomy and has done extensive skin cancer courses in Australia. He is experienced and skilled in doing complex skin excisions and procedures and has been offering skin cancer treatment to the Greater Hobart region and North-West Tasmanian region. He is passionate about patient centred care and has a comprehensive approach for getting the best outcome for his patients. He tries his best to ensure that his patient’s comfort remains the main priority.

She was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP) in 2017, upon which she relocated back to Hobart with her husband and calls it her home.
She is a highly dedicated, caring and compassionate GP with a special interest in skin cancer prevention, detection and management. With over 10 years of experience in general practice and skin cancer medicine, Dr Latika brings both a wealth of medical knowledge and a deep commitment to patient care, helping individuals take proactive steps towards healthier lifestyle and early cancer detection.
During the past 10 years, Dr Latika has pursued further training in skin cancer field by completing her Certificate in Primary Skin Cancer Medicine in 2015 and then her Advanced Certificate of Dermoscopy in 2022 further honing her skills in mole checks, biopsies and the treatment of both non-melanoma and melanoma skin cancers. She continues to regularly update her knowledge through continuing education and professional development, ensuring the latest research and advancements in skin cancer care are reflected in patient treatment plans.
As the heart of Dr Latika’s practice is a patient-centred approach. She takes time to explain conditions in detail, answer any questions and support individuals through every stage of care – from routine skin checks to more complex treatments.

Apart from working as a GP, she also dedicates her time educating the next generation of doctors in the field of General Practice at the UTAS.
Outside of work, she is a busy mum of 2 little kids and enjoys spending time with her family, reading and exploring the beautiful beaches of Tasmania, with sunscreen and a hat on!

The appearance of early skin cancer is variable depending on the type of skin cancer (please see pictures and details below of the different types of skin cancer). Any skin spot which is changing is itchy, tender or bleeding needs to be checked by a skin cancer doctor.
Skin cancers can occur at any part of your body, even which are not exposed to the sun. However, the most common places for skin cancer are the sun-exposed parts of our body, usually the face, scalp, and hands.

Melanoma can have variable appearance depending on how advanced it is. Early melanomas can have subtle changes over short periods of time, or it may be a mole that is different to the other moles on your body. Given the high mortality rate associated with melanomas, it is best to get any suspicious moles checked with a skin cancer doctor as soon as possible.

There is never a bad time to get checked for skin cancer. Given the high ultraviolet exposure in Tasmania, most adults should at least get an initial skin check for skin cancer. How frequently you will need your skin checked is variable for different individuals, and our doctors will advise you regarding how often you need skin checks on your initial appointment.
Skin cancer check involves looking at your entire skin under magnification, and to take pictures of any suspicious skin spots either to treat them or to see any changes in them over time. You would be asked to be in your undergarments during the skin check. It usually takes 30 minutes for a full skin check.
